Lunch at Pasta Fresca
It's a pleasant Saturday here in Singapore. The day commenced with some rain showers, and then appeared the mighty Sun. All in all, the process created the perfect situation to venture out.

Last Sunday, I met Prof. Mandar – after 6 months, courtesy of the pandemic. He was mentioning about the restaurant week in Singapore. A misnomer, it actually spans more than 3 weeks – October 1 - 24 this year. As part of the conversation, he revealed some of the restaurants that had good vegetarian options – time to 📝
One of the places he recommended was Pasta Fresca Da Salvatore, an Italian restaurant. To give some context, I am not a foodie (yet), and I used to do my best to stick to the default Indian options. But, I have been making a conscious effort to expand my food palette lately. It dawned upon me that being limited in food options is quite crippling, especially when you are a vegetarian – an immutable property.

Anyway, I reached the restaurant around 3 PM, and not-so-surprisingly found myself to be the only customer. In all honesty, I loved the setting – peaceful, windy. The menu had good vegetarian variety. I ordered Penne with a spicy, tomato base. In my little experience with Italian food, this easily clinched the top spot as the pasta was home-made, absorbing the base well. The experience was adorned by the second rain showers of the day. Definitely revisiting to try the other options.
Fun facts:
- The name of the wine was quite intriguing: "Rocca Dei Mori Don Luigi Salento Apollonio"
- Red wine makes you look vascular. 😆
